Made in the highest quality "Super Repp" silk, in the way we like them best, untipped! This is unusual for this kind of tie, but looks much better and makes a more subtile tie. Anyway, it's our tie, so we can do whatever we want as long we respect the  stripes!

The 5th Royal Inniskilling Dragoon Guards was a cavalry regiment of the British Army formed in 1922, Cairo, Egypt. It served in the Second World War and the Korean War. In 1923 the regiment was deployed to Risalpur, India. In 1938 the regiment was mechanized. The following year it joined the newly formed Royal Armoured Corps (RAC). The 5th Dragoon Guards remained in the United Kingdom until late July 1944 when they joined the 22nd Armoured Brigade, 7th Armoured Division (the famous 'Desert Rats') during the heavy fighting still going on in Normandy. The regiment was employed in the effort to capture Ghent; the Inniskillings and the 11th Hussars entered the city on 5 September. Subsequently the regiment took part in heavy fighting around the Maas river during Operation Pheasant in late October. After that they took part in Operation Blackcock (clearing the west bank of the river Roer, January 1945), crossing of the Rhine (25^th of march), entering deep in German territory where they met heavy resistance from German troops. They ended the war with the capture of Hamburg, entering the devastated city on the 3th of May 1945. In the fall of 1951, they were transferred to Korea, to fight in what has become known as the Korean War. They participated in the Second Battle of the Hook. At first, they were forced back by massive Chinese attacks. The British counterattacked. B Squadron of the regiment, armed with the powerful Centurion main battle tank, was part of this attack. Fighting continued and in the early hours of 19 November, as dawn broke, the Chinese retreated, unable to consolidate their position. In August 1992 the regiment was amalgamated with the 4th/7th Royal Dragoon Guards to form the Royal Dragoon Guards.
